On June 10th and 11th, Martha Carter, a director-choreographer-creator of dance, media and music works and Artistic Director of Vancouver’s mmHoP (http://www.martamartahop.com), presents TWISTED : a story with a backbone. Created and performed by Carter, with music by Jacob Cino and Lori Clarke, visuals by jamie griffiths and dramaturgy by Lee Su-Feh of battery opera, TWISTED is storytelling as performance art. Inspired by Carter’s own ‘twisted’ journey of living with a deformed spine while pursuing a career in dance, this solo combines monologue, movement, music and visuals to expose the complex layers of reflection and revelation around this story of transformation. It’s a medical memoir with a twist. It’s an artistic autobiographical surgery. It’s sad. It’s funny. It’s TWISTED.
