Have you got a curved spine that causes discomfort? Have you tried other exercise classes that feel too difficult or even a bit dangerous? Come and give you and your scoliosis a break! These gentle stretch and movement classes will help you develop spinal awareness, alignment, flexibility and strength. Through a series of simple exercises inspired by dance, yoga, pilates and massage techniques, you will learn to connect to your spine to find relief form pain, tightness and other discomfort. This class is recommended for anyone with or without surgical correction. Open to all ages and abilities. No dance or stretch experience required.
Martha Carter is a dance artist and teacher who has spent years exploring dance and somatic techniques to relieve her own discomfort from a severe “corrected” scoliosis. Over time, she has developed this class to share her knowledge with the scoliosis community, giving each person tools that they can use at home. Martha's complete bio can be found here.
